It’s Memorial weekend, the unofficial kickoff to summer and…an increase in travel. Yes, travel plans, 3 day weekends, cookouts, the list goes on. Just the thought of it makes you excited, bursting with joy as you hear everyone’s upcoming plans. One of your friends is visiting family for the weekend. Two of your girlfriends are headed to the islands. The fellas are headed to Miami. Your parents decided to take a weekend drive exploring wineries. When it’s your turn to share, you quickly remember with a slight sadness in your voice, I have NO plans. I’m actually staying home this weekend. You begin to think: Am I the only one not going anywhere? How did I end up with no plans? Even my parents have plans. This weekend is going to be such a long, boring, blah weekend. With sudden urgency, your mind is racing as you begin searching options. Part of you want to go somewhere while the other half is reminding you of why you’re sitting this holiday weekend out. Without further thought you begin checking for a flight, trying to make plans to anywhere, but home…STOP.
If you find yourself at a crossroads of “to go or not to go” or with no travel plans for the long weekend and you’re trying to make a last-minute effort to somewhere, just remember it’s only the beginning of summer travel. And guess what? Local travel is always an option. Set aside time during your long weekend planning your future weekend getaways and summer vacation.
